Rules and Regulations

The HSBC Young Entrepreneur Awards 2009-10

1.

Copyrights and plagiarism

1.1

Participants found to have committed copyright infringements in their work will be disqualified.

1.2

Participants found to have committed acts of plagiarism in their work will be disqualified.

1.3

Participants must properly acknowledge any technology or product used in their work that is not of their own invention.

2.

Use of information

2.1

All information including personal data of the participants will be used by the organiser strictly for purposes relating to the Awards, including the disclosure and transfer thereof to the judges and the media where necessary.

2.2

All information including personal data of the participants may also be used for publicising the event.

2.3

All information including personal data of the participants will be stored and kept by the organiser for a period of 12 months from the date when such data are collected.

2.4

The organiser shall own all rights in and arising from all works submitted for the Awards including, without limitation, the copyrights thereon. All works submitted will not be returned to participants.

2.5

Only participants whose entry forms have been duly completed and submitted may have their names published on the official website and/or official publication.

2.6

Participants may be requested to attend some publicity campaigns e.g. promotion activities and media interview, etc.

3.

Computer-related issues

3.1

Participants must use the software versions specified by the organiser.

3.2

The organiser will not be responsible for computer failures due to computer virus transmitted via e-mail correspondence or other means.

3.3

The organiser will not be responsible for any data loss due to computer failure. The organizer reserves the right to postpone the competition if, in its sole discretion, the problem is serious.

4.

Adherence to the rules and regulations

4.1

Participants must adhere to the rules and regulations set out for this competition. Participants failing to abide by the rules and regulations will be subject to disqualification, downgrading or other penalties.

4.2

Any participants who cause undue disturbance in a competition venue, and ignores a warning from the judges or staff may be disqualified and/or expelled from the venue.

4.3

The organiser has the final rights in the interpretation and amendment of the rules and regulations.

4.4

Participants will be notified of major amendments to the rules and regulations if necessary.

5.

General

5.1

The organiser reserves the right to alter or modify the rules or schedule of the event if necessary or expedient.

5.2

Participants are required to bring along their IC cards for identification when attending training or presentation sessions.

5.3

It is strictly forbidden for any participants to reuse any work that he/she submitted in another competition. Violators will be disqualified.

5.4

The decision of the judging panel on all results shall be final and conclusive. No appeals will be entertained.

5.5

Any finalist teams failing to attend the final presentation on 24 April 2010 will be assumed to have given up the right to compete.

5.6

Participants in any part of this event are reminded to take care of their personal property. The organiser will not be responsible for any loss.

5.7

The organiser will not be responsible for any accidents, injuries or damage which might occur during participation in or attendance at this competition or any other related activities.
